Ridiculous memory/CPu usage! help me =(
Im using kaspersky anti virus version 7 and zone alarm pro firewall (latest version) and im having ridiculously high amounts of usage for memory take at look at the following for more info
and
Two kaspersky process running together? confused on that!! (btw tried shutting down both AV and firewall still had high memory usage so dont think thats it).
Anyone know what the problem is? my laptop has the following specs
Asus f3h series notebook
Cpu: duo t2060 @ 1.60ghz
Memory: 1024mb
OS: windows vista home premium 32 bit
HD: 120gb
If you need more info to diagnose my problem let me know exactly what you need id really like to know whats causing my high ram usage =s
update: my cpu usage has dropped below 15% XD, however my memory also dropped to 615mb but thats still kinda high =s

That's pretty typical on Vista, and a good reason they say you should have at least 2 gigs of memory. I've made some efforts to make sure that my laptop has very little running in the back ground, and it still runs at 600 to 700 mb
On a slightly unrelated note, I'd suggest Comodo Firewall over Zone Alarm. ZA has been getting bloated and unwieldy.

I see the Vista indexer going as well, when you start a program that requires more memory, the indexer will gladly give it up for your application.
Remember, the only wasted space, is free space.

The memory usage is quite normal for today's antivirus applications. Multiple processes are normal as well, one process may be the background scanning module and one process the update scheduler/engine for example.
The high CPU usage should only occur during a background scan; not all the time. Try to leave your computer unused for an hour, then it will probably return to around zero.

Most manufacturer's and technicians will say you need 2GB to fully enjoy Vista - i agree with them. Your system will run much better with more RAM. That is pretty normal usage in your task manager... it looks like it's a simple matter of a somewhat underpowered system is all.

As stated 1GB is borderline to run Vista.
The CPU usage is because Kaspersky is doing a scan of your computer. Also be thankful that you've got a dualcore computer, if that'd been a singlecore Kaspersky would have caused all other applications to grind to a halt until it'd finished.
My tip would be to stop the scan, and make sure Kaspersky doesn't do any system scans at times when you're using the computer (use the scheduler to have the scans run late at night, or only run scans manually).
